Sony MAX South Africa is a general entertainment channel that is part of the DStv bouquet of Sub-Saharan Africa satellite channels owned by MultiChoice. The Sony MAX is the local South African version and subsidiary of the Sony Entertainment Television brand, which is seen in over 100 countries worldwide. It was launched on 1 February 2011, Sony MAX delivers 24-hours of foreign entertainment series, movies and reality programmes specially made for male aduiences. It is also the sister channel of African-content channel launched by Sony after inspired from the Hindi-language movie channel from India, Sony MAX which only focus on Bollywood films.
